CAIRO March 13, 2010 - At least 24 people were injured in northern Egypt in fighting between Christians and Muslims over land, officials told state media on Saturday. Coptic Christians and Muslims fought in Marsa Matrouh governorate after the christians built a fence around land next to a building run by El Shahedeen church. Muslim residents of the village objected to the fence, which blocked a main road. Three homes and two cars were set on fire during the fight.

CAIRO Feb 8, 2010 Egyptian security forces have held senior members of the Muslim Brotherhood today, sources close to the group said. Security forces detained 20 other members of the Brotherhood on Saturday and Sunday. The Brotherhood called it a crackdown before elections this year.

BENGUELA, Angola Jan 13, 2010 An inspired display by captain Ahmed Hassan helped African Nations Cup holders Egypt come from a goal down to defeat Nigeria 3-1 in the opening Group C match on Tuesday. Nigeria took an early lead through Chinedu Obasi's cracking drive from the left side. Obasi is a Bundesliga striker who had originally been left out of the squad. Hassan, 35, playing for the eight successive time, then started the Egyptian comeback. He made a defence splitting pass that allowed Emad Moteab to round Nigerian keeper Vincent Enyeama and score an equaliser in the 34th minute.
