LONDON, March 17, 2010 - Jose Mourinho guided Inter Milan to a 1-0 win against his former side Chelsea on Tuesday. With the win, Inter qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals. Inter had fallen at the first knockout stage for the last three seasons. They had missed the three best chances of the match before Wesley Sneijder sent Samuel Eto'o free. Samuel Eto'o duly netted the 78th minute winner. Inter are the only Italian team into the last eight. They went through 3-1 on aggregate.

JERUSALEM, March 17, 2010 - Israeli lawmakers passed a bill on Tuesday to reform the working of its central bank - Bank of Israel. Under the new rules, monetary policy decisions will be made by a six-member board headed by the governor of the bank. The board will consist of the deputy governor, another central bank official and three other external members appointed by the government. They must all be Israeli citizens, have a masters degree or PhD and have at least five years experience in the finance, monetary or economic sectors.

The "red shirts", mostly rural people, are supporters of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra. They were collecting a vial of blood from each supporter as 4 days of peaceful protest did not seem to have any effect.

The red-shirts are supporters of ousted ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra. They were collecting a vial of blood from each supporter as 4 days of peaceful protest did not seem to have any effect. They are planning to spill it outside Abhisit's office in a symbolic shedding of blood for democracy. The "red shirts", mostly rural, say they have been disenfranchised. The "yellow shirts", supporters of Abhisit, comprise the military, urban elite and royalists.

MADRID March 13, 2010 - Al Qaeda had kidnapped three Spanish hostages in Mauritania in November. It released one of them - Spanish aid worker, Alicia Gamez, earlier this week. To free the other two, it wants a $5 million ransom and the release of imprisoned Islamist fighters. Newspaper El Pais said this, based on its sources of information.

ALMATY March 13, 2010 Severe floods destroyed two dams in southern Kazakhstan. Around 20 people died and thousands had to be evacuated. The rescue operation is continuing. Eastern Kazakhstan is experiencing heavy snow storms. A medical evacuation helicopter trying to rescue people crashed in stormy weather killing all eight people on board.
